Nadia Ayala-Lopez is a third-year PhD student in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at Michigan State University. Her research focuses on understanding how perivascular adipose tissue, fat tissue that surrounds blood vessels, can influence blood vessel function. Before coming to MSU, she worked as a Medical Laboratory Scientist at the University of Washington Harborview Hospital in Seattle, Washington and at St. Rose Dominican Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada. As an undergraduate at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Ms. Ayala-Lopez conducted undergraduate research in immunotoxicology and received her Bachelors degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences. In addition to scientific research, she has a special interest in facilitating graduate student professional development.
