BEST Support for Trainees
Travel funding for BEST trainees
MSU BEST has limited resources to provide personal professional development funding to support trainees in trips/travel to conferences, meetings or externships that support your professional development exploring expanded careers.
These funds are not designated for travel to present research; while that is an important professional experience, BEST is designed to expand career exploration in other ways. For example, some trainees may seek funding to help defray travel or housing costs for an off-campus externship, or to participate in a seminar or workshop on developing new professional competencies. BEST has a set amount of money per year to share with scholars in this way, and we will do our very best in providing funding to all who ask.
To obtain these funds (up to $500 per trainee) trainees need to fill out the following application form no later than one month prior to the start date of your activity. This money can be used for travel, lodging and meals. Each request will be reviewed by the BEST Advisory team.
Within one month of the BEST trainee’s return to campus, we ask that trainees submit and share a brief report on the career activity, what was learned, what lessons can be shared with other trainees, and other important findings from the experience. Send to firstname.lastname@example.org.
